My name is Bjoern Weidlich and I started SponsrMe.com in January of 2010 out of frustration because I couldn't find any place to get in touch with potential sponsors for the events that I was organizing at college. I'm in my final year at Clark University and am majoring in Econ with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
SponsrMe.com consists of two email lists. One with potential sponsors and one with people looking for sponsorships. The way we add value is by connecting these two groups and screening sponsorship requests to ensure a certain level of quality. The larger idea behind SponsrMe.com is the concept of Micro Sponsorship. Finding smaller events or niche podcasts can be quite time consuming/expensive and the possible return might not be high enough to cover those costs. But if the cost of finding good sponsorship opportunites drops because someone does the screening for you it might be worth it.
